Marcus wants to hire fifty people. Elena wants to redesign the operation.

Panel 1

Monday, 9:04am. Northwind Labs, all-hands war room.

Marcus: "Demand is up 10x. Simple. We hire fifty more support reps by Friday."

Panel 2

Elena does not look up from her laptop.

Elena: "That's not a scale plan, Marcus. That's a growth plan wearing a scale plan's jacket."

Panel 3

Marcus blinks. Sam, in the back, quietly raises a hand.

Sam: "I've trained fourteen new reps this year. We still can't handle Tuesdays."

Elena turns her laptop around. One slide: GROWTH = MORE OF THE SAME. SCALE = A DIFFERENT SHAPE.

Elena: "Growth adds people to do the same thing more times. Scale changes the shape of the operation so the same team serves ten times more. One of these has a ceiling. Guess which."
